FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What age can students start?

Guitar, piano, vocal, saxophone and bass lessons are available from age five. Drum lessons are available from age seven. A free taster helps us check that the instrument and lesson format are a good fit.

Do I need an instrument before my taster?

Not necessarily. Tell us what you need when booking and we will confirm what is available for your first visit.

Are lessons only for children?

No. Apollo welcomes children, teenagers and adults, including complete beginners and people returning to music.

How long is a normal lesson?

The standard lesson is 30 minutes. Longer sessions may be available where they suit the learner and teacher timetable.

Do I need to take exams?

No. Exams can be a useful goal, but lessons can instead focus on songs, performance, bands, recording or simply enjoying the instrument.

What if the teacher is not the right fit?

Tell us. A good teacher relationship matters, and we will help find a better match where possible.

Is the building accessible?

Apollo is upstairs and currently has no step-free access or accessible toilet. Parking is limited beside the building. Please contact us before booking if you would like to discuss access or whether the venue will meet your needs.

What happens after I book?

My Music Staff confirms the appointment using the contact details entered in the instrument booking form.
